Shedding skin, revealing worlds.

DUALIS explores the meeting of opposites: light and shadow, animal and human, the familiar and the unconscious. Pigment is folded into itself and gestures are doubled, allowing symmetry to emerge from an instinctive beginning. The resulting forms invite recognition without fixing a single interpretation.

Presented in a transit hall, the work enters a setting shaped by arrivals, departures and encounters. The exhibition asks viewers to consider what happens when an image turns back on itself, and what two opposing forms might create together.

About the artist

Livia Dualis (Livia Schneider) was born in Namibia and shaped by South Africa, and is now rooted in Berlin. Her practice extends across large-scale festival installations, sculpture, print media and upcycled clothing, with painting remaining central to her exploration of duality.

She holds a Bachelor of Fine Art from the Michaelis School of Fine Art at the University of Cape Town. DUALIS is her first solo exhibition.
