About the artist
Where opposites meet,
a world unfolds.
Livia Dualis, also known as Livia Schneider, is a German–Namibian artist working between Berlin and Southern Africa. Her practice spans painting, installation, curation and social practice.
A practice built
around the fold.
Painting is Livia’s root medium. From there, the work extends into murals, tattoo, silkscreen, projection and environments that visitors can walk into.
Paint is mirrored across a central axis, drawing on the process of a Rorschach inkblot. Order emerges from spontaneous marks, while each viewer’s associations help complete the image.
Duality is both subject and method: Namibia and Berlin, wilderness and city, the feminine and the shadow. Brown hyenas of the Skeleton Coast, desert leopards, lizards and the plants of the Namib carry the landscapes and inherited stories that shaped her early life.

Art as a space
for encounter.
Livia’s immersive and participatory works bring ecological awareness together with ritual, play and storytelling. They invite people to leave a mark, enter a shared environment or pause within a landscape.
Alongside her studio work, she hosts women’s circles and creative workshops in festival and private settings. Wildlife conservation in Namibia is an ongoing commitment within her practice.
