Painting moves into time.

Borders of Illusion takes the mirrored image beyond the canvas as a static object. Created for Moyn Festival in September 2026, the installation offers two experiences of the same painted surface.

By day

A large canvas of mirrored forms becomes a photo space that festival visitors can step into. The viewer enters the image, bringing a body and a moment of participation into its symmetry.

By night

After dark, projection mapping animates the painting. Light folds across its surface, changing how its forms are encountered.

The installation extends a central method in Livia’s practice: the fold. Here, that fold also happens through time, as one image splits and recombines between daylight and projection.
